18th International Symposium on Reactor Dosimetry

Date: May 18, 2025 - May 23, 2025

Event Location:  Francis Marion Hotel, Charleston, South Carolina, USA

Jointly Sponsored by: ASTM Committee E10 on Nuclear Technology and Applications and the European Working Group on Reactor Dosimetry (EWGRD)

About the Event

The 18th International Symposium on Reactor Dosimetry will be held May 18-23, 2025 at the Francis Marion Hotel, Charleston, South Carolina, USA. Please note that the technical sessions will not start until the morning of May 19, 2025.  The symposium is being organized by ASTM and is jointly sponsored by the ASTM International Committee E10 on Nuclear Technology and Applications and the European Working Group on Reactor Dosimetry (EWGRD).

This symposium is held approximately every three years to provide a forum for the interchange of state-of-the-art techniques, databases, and standardization of radiation metrology. The symposium will be of value to those involved in reactor dosimetry including researchers, manufacturers, and representatives from industry, utilities, and regulatory agencies.

The symposium language will be English and no translations will be provided.

Objective and Scope

The theme of ISRD is dosimetry for the assessment of irradiated reactor materials and reactor experiments, featuring radiation metrology techniques, nuclear databases, and standardization. The topic areas for ISRD18 include the following:

  • Experimental techniques, measurements and monitoring
  • Calculational and transport methods
  • Reactor surveillance, plant life management and decommissioning
  • Nuclear data, uncertainties and adjustments
  • Benchmarks and inter-comparisons
  • Dosimetry in test and research reactors, including accelerators and fusion facilities

This symposium is organized into a single track of oral and poster presentations, along with informal roundtables and workshops. This format provides for in-depth discussion during and after the sessions and promotes a strong community of attendees.

Abstract Submission

Prospective authors are invited to submit an approximately 250-word abstract by October 1, 2024 via the Abstract Submission Portal. To ensure your abstract was received into the ASTM database, please email symposia@astm.org and let us know that you have submitted an abstract.

Abstracts must include a:

  • Clear definition of the research objective
  • Scientific approach of the work
  • Result that constitutes a novel contribution to the field.

Abstracts must be complete enough to allow for careful assessment of the paper's suitability for this symposium because of the limited number of submissions that will be accepted for presentation. The presentation and subsequent manuscript must not be of a commercial nature, nor have been previously published. Authors will be notified of acceptance of their papers for presentation by mid-December 2024.  Details and dates for full paper submission will be provided upon acceptance of abstracts.

Publication Information

Symposium authors are required to submit their papers for ASTM publication in an STP, an online and printed, peer-reviewed publication for the international scientific and engineering community. After the final selection of abstracts has been approved, the ASTM Editorial Office will send authors’ instructions via email only. Manuscripts to be peer reviewed for the STP are due online no later than DATE at the ASTM Editorial Office. The corresponding author (the author who is the main contact with ASTM Headquarters) will receive a copy of his/her paper in portable document format (PDF). All published authors will have the opportunity to purchase reprints of their papers at a nominal cost. Only those papers submitted by the manuscript due date will be included in the STP.

Please note that all submitted papers are subject to peer review by two independent reviewers. The STP will be submitted to the Library of Congress with an ISBN number and will be reviewed for inclusion in the Web of Science Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI) and Google Scholar.
